Which types of hearing aids exist?
Hearing aids are classified as either hanging or auditory canal types, depending on whether they are worn primarily inside or outside the ear.
Hanging type - These are hung on the outer ear, and with the aid of thin, transparent tubes, sound is sent to individual ear terminals. They are custom-made using a mould of the patient’s ear. The ear terminal not only seals the auditory canal, but also makes wearing the hearing aids more comfortable.
Auditory canal type - the whole hearing aid, which is custom – made according to a mould of the patient’s ear, is placed in the auditory canal.
When should I use a hearing aid?
A hearing impairment should be diagnosed by a physician, who will then determine the suitabilitz of a hearing aid as a corrective measure. An examination in our outpatient clinic. Afterwards, if the problem can be corrected with a hearing aid, your physician will help you to choose the most suitable hearing aid.
I'm afraid that I will be ashamed to wear a hearing aid
Not at all. Thanks to a wide variety of sizes and types, we are able choose the hearing aid just for you. Those aroud you may have no idea that you're even wearing a hearing aid.
Is a hearing aid costly?
Health insurance contribution for adults: for one ear once nevery 5 years, depending on the severity of impairment 2,700 CZK , 3,900 CZK or 5,100 CZK.
Health insurance contribution for children: Once every 5 years, but for both ears and the amounts are higher, as much as 2x 5,800 CZK, depending on the degree of hearing difficulty. This is, of course, based on a prescription from a specialised physician qualified to prescribe hearing aids. It is always possible to choose a 100 % digital qualitz hearing aid entirely covered by health insurance.
Will it be difficult for me to operate a hearing aid?
Today’s modern hearing aids work completely automatically. All you need to do is change the battery regularly, as the hearing aid will already be set for your maximum hearing comfort.
What happens if I break the hearing aid?
All hearing aids come vith a 2-year warantee. Minor repairs can be done in our facility, while other problems may be referred to a particular warantee service provider.
What else should I know about hearing aids?
All new hearing aids are now completely digital, while a few manufacturers continue to distribute the last remaining analog hearing aids from their warehouses.
Thanks to digitalization, the sound quality of today’s hearing aids is more natural and clearer, without background noise and increased volume. The patient will be able to make phone calls, even vith mobile phones without the slightest (as with analog hearing aids) disturbance.
The hearing aid is battery-operated, and the battery is easy to replace, as a result of a design intended to make the device as easy to use as possible.
There are many accessories which can be used with a hearing aid, some of which are covered by health insurance. For others, contributions from one’s local social services department may be available.
The current quality of hearing aids helps to solve hearing impairments and enables one to return to a life of good hearing in the way that glasses help those with poor vision. In both cases it is a matter of a corrective aid which is simply a common part of everyday life.
Wireless FM systems

It works like this - The receiver of the wireless system is connected to the hearing aid, while the transmitter is placed close to the source of the sound(nung from a teacher’s neck , trainer’s belt or placed on a table or desk during group or pairwork)
FM systems also keep young people from being isolated in a world of silence. Instead, they are able to remain integrated with their peers and classmates.
